Abstract

Several law schools and universities have begun piloting eBook reader programs, allowing students and faculty to test and access electronic textbooks and resources. But the majority of schools do not yet have such programs. Although most schools may not (or cannot) offer wholesale adoption, they can still provide educational programs and materials to better inform their patrons about using eBook readers in a legal setting. This program will begin with brief descriptions of four major eBook readers (Kindle, nook, iPad and Sony). The speakers will then assess each eReader’s performance in the following areas: availability of resources; compatibility with major legal publishers; ease of use and more. The program will conclude with specific examples of the educational resources Georgia State University’s law library created for its students, faculty and other patrons wanting to use personal eBook readers.
